Man Or Bear
Sarah Hehir and Katie Hurley in association with Croydonites | 2026

Performed by Lesley Ewen, Amaia Naima Aguinaga and Katie Hurley
Blending kitchen sink realism with bold physical sequences, Man or Bear is a fast-moving, darkly comic new play about fear, friendship and survival. Inspired by the viral question: ‘Would you rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear?’, it follows three generations of women in the lead up to an act of violence. Rather than centring the perpetrator, the play turns its focus to women’s resilience, humour and solidarity, offering a poetic and unsettling reflection on modern day misogyny.
This is Ursula Martinez’s first time directing a play’…..a proper play…. with a story, characters and acting!
...a darkly devastating and powerful play…one of the standout performances of Fringe 2026.
Not ashamed to say, I cried.
